11th Annual Countdown to Zero
2017 Dropout Recovery Walk
What: PSJA ISD Countdown to Zero Dropout Recovery Walk is a door-to-door program that recovers students who have not returned to school. When a student does not show up to class at the beginning of the school year, attendance and dropout staff go to the homes of these students, provide encouragement, and offer resources so the students will return and finish school. This is the 11th year of the initiative, which asks community volunteers to assist the school district in the recovery process, helping PSJA reduce the number of dropouts every year.
Who: District employees and community volunteers who wish to participate in Countdown to Zero 2016 Dropout Recovery Walk
When: Four Saturdays in September (2, 9, 16 & 23) at 8:00 am
Where: PSJA Southwest Early College High School Cafeteria
(300 E. Rancho Blanco Rd. in Pharr)
Why do we do it? PSJA ISD wants each student to graduate from high school and be prepared for post-secondary education. We provide guidance and programs to facilitate their return to the classroom, while maintaining their goal of graduating from high school. Community support is vital to the success of the walk. We need community support to ensure that students graduate from high school and continue their education.
